White Party

The White Party is the name of a number of circuit parties held annually, catering to the LGBT communities. Its name comes from the requirement that party-goers dress in all or almost all white. White Parties have taken place in New York City; Chicago, Illinois; Huntsville, Alabama; Fayetteville, Arkansas; Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Palm Springs, California; Salt Lake City, Utah; Los Feliz, California; and Montreal, Quebec, Canada, although the events are independent of each other.

Famous quotes containing the words white and/or party:

Belinda lived in a little white house,
With a little black kitten and a little gray mouse,
And a little yellow dog and a little red wagon,
And a realio, trulio, little pet dragon.
    Ogden Nash (1902–1971)

The real grounds of difference upon important political questions no longer correspond with party lines.... Politics is no longer the topic of this country. Its important questions are settled... Great minds hereafter are to be employed on other matters.... Government no longer has its ancient importance.... The people’s progress, progress of every sort, no longer depends on government. But enough of politics. Henceforth I am out more than ever.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)
