Westinghouse Rail Systems - History

History

Westinghouse Rail Systems origin is in the signals division of Westinghouse Brake and Signal Company which was founded as Westinghouse Brake & Saxby Signal Company in 1920. Hawker Siddeley purchased that company in 1979 and sold it to BTR plc in 1992. In 1999, BTR merged with Siebe to form Invensys.

The brake and signal company split into two separate companies: Westinghouse Signals and Westinghouse Brakes. Invensys sold Westinghouse Brakes to Knorr-Bremse in April 2000.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more than half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we called it the word of a demon than the Word of God. It is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind.
    Thomas Paine (1737–1809)

Indeed, the Englishman’s history of New England commences only when it ceases to be New France.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The History of the world is not the theatre of happiness. Periods of happiness are blank pages in it, for they are periods of harmony—periods when the antithesis is in abeyance.
    Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831)
