Westborn Market is a small chain of produce-specializing supermarkets located in the Metropolitan Detroit area of southeast Michigan. Currently, Westborn Market operates three main stores, which are located in Dearborn, Livonia, and Berkley.
Westborn Market is primarily a fruit market, but also features large selections of wine, a full-service deli, and many specialty grocery items as well. All three Westborn locations also feature an extensive floral market. The floral market is co-located within the Livonia and Berkley stores, but is found in a separate building across Michigan Avenue from the main Dearborn location.
Westborn Market was founded by Andrew and George Anusbigian in Dearborn, MI, in 1963. Since the death of George Anusbigian, the company is owned and operated by three family brothers, including company president Mark Anusbigian.
Andrew Anusbigian left Westborn, and founded Windmill Fruit Market in Livonia, Mich., with his sons Andy and Jeff Anusbigian. Andrew and Andy both moved to Florida, where they opened a grocery store called AJ's Warehouse in Dade City, FL. They have since sold the business and are retired for now.
Andy's brother in law, Randy Ryan, and his wife Kellie Ryan both founded the local favorite Cherry Street Market in Kalkaska, Mich.
Famous quotes containing the word market:
“Writing ought either to be the manufacture of stories for which there is a market demanda business as safe and commendable as making soap or breakfast foodsor it should be an art, which is always a search for something for which there is no market demand, something new and untried, where the values are intrinsic and have nothing to do with standardized values.”
