White House Mess
The West Wing ground floor is also the site of a cafeteria, staffed by Naval culinary specialists and called the White House Mess. It is located underneath the Oval Office, and was established by President Truman on June 11, 1951. As of 2009, the mess is open daily from 7 am to 8 pm.
