High Line

The High Line has been turned into an elevated park which opened in June 2009. The first phase of the park runs from Gansevoort Street to 20th Street. The tracks parallel Washington Street for much of their journey. In June 2011 a second phase of the elevated park opened from 20th Street to 30th Street.

Famous quotes containing the words high and/or line:

    As for your high towers and monuments, there was a crazy fellow once in this town who undertook to dig through to China, and he got so far that, as he said, he heard the Chinese pots and kettles rattle; but I think that I shall not go out of my way to admire the hole which he made.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

    A line will take us hours maybe;
    Yet if it does not seem a moment’s thought,
    Our stitching and unstitching has been naught.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)
