West Elm (stylized as west elm) is an upscale retail store that features contemporary furniture designs and other housewares. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Williams-Sonoma, Inc. There are currently 38 stores across 18 states in the United States, the Canadian provinces of Ontario, and British Columbia, as well as Puerto Rico. Customers are able to shop in-store, online, or through a catalog by calling a toll free number. The larger products like sofas and beds are only displayed in stores for customers to see and feel in-person, likening West Elm to a pure catalog/online retail company.

Famous quotes containing the words west and/or elm:
“... it matters not what natural endowment a race may have if it prostitutes itself to the service of death.”
—Rebecca West (18921983)
“I want to celebrate these elms which have been spared by the plague, these survivors of a once flourishing tribe commemorated by all the Elm Streets in America. But to celebrate them is to be silent about the people who sit and sleep underneath them, the homeless poor who are hauled away by the city like trash, except it has no place to dump them. To speak of one thing is to suppress another.”
—Lisel Mueller (b. 1924)
