West Dunbartonshire - Governance and Politics

Governance and Politics

The council is run by 22 councillors elected from 6 wards. All Scottish local authorities were last elected in 2012; in West Dunbartonshire, the following parties were elected:

  • Scottish Labour Party 12
  • Scottish National Party 6
  • Independent 3
  • Scottish Socialist Party 1

The Labour Party regained control of the council from the SNP/independent coalition at the 2012 local election.

Famous quotes containing the words governance and/or politics:

    He yaf me al the bridel in myn hand,
    To han the governance of hous and land,
    And of his tonge and his hand also;
    Geoffrey Chaucer (1340?–1400)

    Philosophy, astronomy, and politics were marked at zero, I remember. Botany variable, geology profound as regards the mud stains from any region within fifty miles of town, chemistry eccentric, anatomy unsystematic, sensational literature and crime records unique, violin player, boxer, swordsman, lawyer, and self-poisoner by cocaine and tobacco.
    Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930)
