Welsh Formula One Drivers

There have been 160 Formula One drivers from the United Kingdom, four of whom are racing in the current season. The country has produced ten world champions. Of those, Jackie Stewart has won the most, with three titles in 1969, 1971 and 1973. Nigel Mansell has won the most races while David Coulthard has both started the most races and amassed the most points. Two former British World Champions (Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button) are still active in the sport.

Famous quotes containing the words welsh and/or formula:

For every nineteenth-century middle-class family that protected its wife and child within the family circle, there was an Irish or a German girl scrubbing floors in that home, a Welsh boy mining coal to keep the home-baked goodies warm, a black girl doing the family laundry, a black mother and child picking cotton to be made into clothes for the family, and a Jewish or an Italian daughter in a sweatshop making “ladies” dresses or artificial flowers for the family to purchase.
    Stephanie Coontz (20th century)

Every formula which expresses a law of nature is a hymn of praise to God.
    Maria Mitchell (1818–1889)
