Washington State Route 525

State Route 525, commonly abbreviated as SR 525, is a state highway in the U.S. state of Washington. It extends almost 31 miles (50 km) from Lynnwood in the south to an area near Keystone in the north, not counting a portion that is carried by the Washington State Ferries run from Mukilteo on the mainland to Clinton on Whidbey Island. While the route is signed North/South, nearly 10 miles (16 km) of the route runs mostly East/West, not counting the ferry portion, which runs in a Northwest/Southeast orientation. Along with SR 20, SR 525 from Clinton to Anacortes forms the Whidbey Scenic Isle Way a federally designated scenic byway.

On Whidbey Island, it is known as The Highway. In Lynnwood and Mukilteo it is known as Mukilteo Speedway.

Famous quotes containing the words washington, state and/or route:

I thought it altogether proper that I should take a brief furlough from official duties at Washington to mingle with you here to-day as a comrade, because every President of the United States must realize that the strength of the Government, its defence in war, the army that is to muster under its banner when our Nation is assailed, is to be found here in the masses of our people.
    Benjamin Harrison (1833–1901)

Mine was, as it were, the connecting link between wild and cultivated fields; as some states are civilized, and others half-civilized, and others savage or barbarous, so my field was, though not in a bad sense, a half-cultivated field. They were beans cheerfully returning to their wild and primitive state that I cultivated, and my hoe played the Ranz des Vaches for them.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

no arranged terror: no forcing of image, plan,
    or thought:
no propaganda, no humbling of reality to precept:
terror pervades but is not arranged, all possibilities
of escape open: no route shut,
    Archie Randolph Ammons (b. 1926)
