Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Setting

Setting

The game is set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, a dystopian vision of the future. Humanity has forged a galaxy-spanning empire, The Imperium, with the Immortal Emperor as humanity's leader and a living god. The Imperium is in a state of constant war with the Orks, Eldar, and the human servants of Chaos, desperately fighting to preserve the human race from extinction. The single player campaign is set on the planet Tartarus. This also sets the stage for Dawn of War II: Retribution.

Famous quotes containing the word setting:

A fit abode for a poet. Stage setting at least correct.
    Ezra Pound (1885–1972)

    May we two stand,
When we are dead, beyond the setting suns,
A little from other shades apart,
With mingling hair, and play upon one lute.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

Only in the problem play is there any real drama, because drama is no mere setting up of the camera to nature: it is the presentation in parable of the conflict between Man’s will and his environment: in a word, of problem.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)
