Walter Tirel in Literature

Tirel is the protagonist of the historical novels The Paladin and The Wolf Time, both by George Shipway.

Tirel was also in the book, The King's Arrow, by Michael Cadnum, a fictional account of William II of England's death.

Another fictionalized account of William's death involving Tirel (spelled Tyrrell) appears in Edward Rutherfurd's novel The Forest.

The death of William II 'Rufus the Red' is the subject of the Frank Turner song "English Curse" where he supposes that it was caused by a curse imposed on him by trespassing on an Englishman's land.
