Famous quotes containing the words personal life, personal and/or life:
“The dialectic between change and continuity is a painful but deeply instructive one, in personal life as in the life of a people. To “see the light” too often has meant rejecting the treasures found in darkness.”
—Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)
“Perspective, as its inventor remarked, is a beautiful thing. What horrors of damp huts, where human beings languish, may not become picturesque through aerial distance! —George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)
“The trouble is that no devastating or redeeming fires have ever burnt in my life.... My life began by flickering out.”
—Ivan Goncharov (1812–1891)
