VODnet

A VODnet is a VOD Video On Demand driven cable and satellite television network. It is different from a traditional linear television network in that the content resides on a server at a cable head end or satellite server bay and the consumer calls up the particular program they want to watch from a menu at any given time as opposed to a linear network whose programs are on various time slots during the day. They are the next generation of television networks. The cable and satellite industries are making a big push to market this service, so much so that most remote controls have a VOD button on the remote. Usually VODnet's are genre portal based. This means that you would find Sportskool and The Ski Channel under "sports" and MGM Channel under "movies".
