Vishnuvardhana

Vishnuvardhana (Kannada: ವಿಷ್ಣುವರ್ಧನ) (1108–1152 CE) was an emperor of the Hoysala Empire in present day Indian state of Karnataka. Vishnuvardhana took the first step in consolidating the Hoysala Empire in South India through a series of battles against his overlords, the Western Chalukya empire. He also recovered Gangavadi pronvince from the hegemony of the Chola empire It is said that the Hoysalas gained the dignity of a empire starting from his rule onwards. He was also called Bitti Deva or the finger lord.
