The Virgin Islands National Park is a United States National Park, covering approximately 60% of the island of Saint John in the United States Virgin Islands, plus nearly all of Hassel Island, just off the Charlotte Amalie, Saint Thomas harbor.

The park is famous for scuba diving and snorkeling and has miles of hiking trails through the tropical rainforest.

Famous quotes containing the words virgin, islands, national and/or park:

If it were worth while to argue a paradox, one might maintain that nature regards the female as the essential, the male as the superfluity of her world. Perhaps the best starting-point for study of the Virgin would be a practical acquaintance with bees, and especially with queen bees.
    Henry Brooks Adams (1838–1918)

    we are so many
    and many within themselves
travel to far islands but no one
    asks for their story....
    Denise Levertov (b. 1923)

What do we mean by patriotism in the context of our times? I venture to suggest that what we mean is a sense of national responsibility ... a patriotism which is not short, frenzied outbursts of emotion, but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime.
    Adlai Stevenson (1900–1965)

Therefore awake! make haste, I say,
    And let us, without staying,
All in our gowns of green so gay
    Into the Park a-maying!
    Unknown. Sister, Awake! (L. 9–12)
