Villa Alegre (TV Series) - Actors and Staff

Actors and Staff

Villa Alegre was the creation of Dr. Rene Cardenas, who served as president of Bilingual Children's Television and Executive Producer. Other producers included Moctesuma Esparza, who worked on only the first season, and David Ochoa. Kenia Hernandez Cueto played the child actress/singer Maria on the show. Actress Carmen Zapata starred in the program for nine seasons in the role of "Doña Luz," the mayor of Villa Alegre, and Marisela, the Mexican-American singer-actress, appeared on the show in her youth. Actress Linda Dangcil played Elena on the show. The show was directed by Argentinian actor and director Alejandro Rey (who co-starred with Dangcil on The Flying Nun).

Famous quotes containing the words actors and, actors and/or staff:

I was thinking what an interesting concept it is to eliminate the writer from the artistic process. If we can just get rid of these actors and directors, maybe we got something here.
Michael Tolkin, U.S. screenwriter, and Robert Altman. Griffin Mill (Tim Robbins)

The actors today really need the whip hand. They’re so lazy. They haven’t got the sense of pride in their profession that the less socially elevated musical comedy and music hall people or acrobats have. The theater has never been any good since the actors became gentlemen.
    —W.H. (Wystan Hugh)

We achieve “active” mastery over illness and death by delegating all responsibility for their management to physicians, and by exiling the sick and the dying to hospitals. But hospitals serve the convenience of staff not patients: we cannot be properly ill in a hospital, nor die in one decently; we can do so only among those who love and value us. The result is the institutionalized dehumanization of the ill, characteristic of our age.
    Thomas Szasz (b. 1920)
