Distributed Computing
Pande currently is the Director of the Folding@home project. The protein folding simulations from Folding@home quantitatively compare to experiment, which is often considered a "holy grail" of computational biology.
Pande also directed the Genome@home project, the goal of which was to design new genes and proteins for the purpose of better understanding how they evolve and operate. Genome@home concluded in early March 2004, and accumulated a large database of protein sequences, which will be used for important scientific purposes for many years by the Pande Group and many others throughout the world.
