Party in South Tamil Nadu
The party plays a most inflential role in the southern parts of Tamil Nadu, particularly in the districts of Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli, where most people belong to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, including Paravars, Konars, Vanniyars, Muslims and Christians. The party opposes Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant for the welfare of the poor people in this region and gained the support of fishermen from the coastal region.
