Victory Day marks the end of World War 2 in Europe, specifically the capitulation of Nazi forces to the Allies (the United Kingdom, Soviet Union, France, the United States and other principal Allied nations) on May 8, 1945. The British Channel Islands were not liberated from German Occupation until May 9 (Jersey and Guernsey), May 10 (Sark), and May 16 (Alderney).
