Uintah School District serves the students of Uintah County, Utah. Vernal Middle School has been completely remodeled at a cost of approximately thirty million dollars. The bid for a completely new structure was 25 million, five million less than the remodeling. During the remodeling, students were taken by bus to nearby schools.
The new Vernal Middle School opened on Monday March 2, 2009 for the seventh grade and at the beginning of the 2008–2009 school year for sixth grade graders. It finished construction in 2009 and has about 980 students and teachers.
