Velammal Engineering College, is an engineering college located in Chennai, India. Established in 1995, this college is managed by Velammal Education Trust, which was founded in 1986 by Thuri. M.V. Muthuramalingam. VEC is an institution which has been approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, and is affiliated to Anna University, South India. This is the first private engineering College to obtain an ISO 9001:2000 certificate.
Velammal Engineering College is said to be among the finest Engineering Colleges in Chennai, and a Tier-I institution among self financing colleges. It is also well known for the National Level Technical Symposium "FORNYA" which is organized by the Department Of Production Engineering. It has recently been rated as one of the top 3 engineering colleges in terms of student performance in Tamil Nadu by Tata Consultancy Services. As of 2011-2012 VEC is the 2nd best College in terms of campus placements.
