Varginha UFO Incident

Varginha UFO Incident

In 1996, popular reports stated that strange creatures (allegedly extraterrestrials) were supposedly captured by Brazilian officials. These reports were broadcast on the Sunday program Fantástico of Rede Globo, Brazil's largest television broadcaster, which sometimes examines extra-normal incidents. The case generated extensive publicity in Central and South America, and was mentioned in The Wall Street Journal.

The Brazilian government officially denies that anything unusual occurred, but some theorists have charged that there was a cover up. The lack of reliable sources is evidence against its actuality; the testimony of unnamed, anonymous "official" individuals are frequently featured.

UFO investigator Kevin D. Randle writes that "this case is as complicated as any other in the UFO field." Randle notes that there is a lack of physical evidence supporting the case, and adds, "In fact, we have been unable to verify much of anything."

Famous quotes containing the word incident:

Every incident connected with the breaking up of the rivers and ponds and the settling of the weather is particularly interesting to us who live in a climate of so great extremes. When the warmer days come, they who dwell near the river hear the ice crack at night with a startling whoop as loud as artillery, as if its icy fetters were rent from end to end, and within a few days see it rapidly going out. So the alligator comes out of the mud with quakings of the earth.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
