He was born in Katuru near Vuyyuru, located in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh on July 4, 1947. Ranga had four elder brothers. 1.Vangaveeti Koteswara Rao, 2.Vangaveeti Venkata Narayana Rao 3.Vangaveeti Sobhana Chalapathi Rao 4.Vangaveeti Radha Krishna. Ranga was married to Chennupati Ratnakumari. He was the god of kapu community. They have a son Radhakrishna, named after Ranga's brother Late. Vangaveeti Radhakrishna and one daughter Asha. Radhakrishna entered politics after his father's death and joined Indian National Congress to become an MLA and shifted to Praja Rajyam Party, due to some consequences and again he shifted to YSR Congress Party on 28th April 2012.
