In the Covert Affairs episode "Speed of Life" (Season 3, Episode 4) the character Simon Fischer admits to Annie Walker that the tattoo on his upper left shoulder blade of Ursa Minor was inspired by John Keats' poem Bright star, would I were steadfast as thou art. He also tells her that she is the first one to have guessed that the tattoo is of Ursa Minor. Although she asks him, Simon doesn't tell her who in his life was his bright star or the reason behind getting the tattoo. In the episode "Let's Dance" (Season 3, Episode 10) Annie travels to Moscow to track down the double-spy Lena Smith and avenge Simon's death. Here she goes to a coffee shop where the image of the tattoo can be found. It turns out that the waitress is Simon's sister, Zarya, and she admits to Annie that she is the bright star of the tattoo. This tattoo is also the symbol used by Jai Wilcox to mark Simon Fischer's dossier within the CIA (Season 3, Episode 1).

Famous quotes containing the words popular and/or culture:
“I do not see why, since America and her autumn woods have been discovered, our leaves should not compete with the precious stones in giving names to colors; and, indeed, I believe that in course of time the names of some of our trees and shrubs, as well as flowers, will get into our popular chromatic nomenclature.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“What culture lacks is the taste for anonymous, innumerable germination. Culture is smitten with counting and measuring; it feels out of place and uncomfortable with the innumerable; its efforts tend, on the contrary, to limit the numbers in all domains; it tries to count on its fingers.”
—Jean Dubuffet (19011985)
