System Centers
The University of Houston System has two system centers (also known as "multi-institution teaching centers"), which operate as off-campus and distance learning sites for its universities. The system centers are not stand-alone universities, and they do not have the authority to confer degrees.

Famous quotes containing the words system and/or centers:
“Ethics and religion differ herein; that the one is the system of human duties commencing from man; the other, from God. Religion includes the personality of God; Ethics does not.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“[Madness] is the jail we could all end up in. And we know it. And watch our step. For a lifetime. We behave. A fantastic and entire system of social control, by the threat of example as effective over the general population as detention centers in dictatorships, the image of the madhouse floats through every mind for the course of its lifetime.”
—Kate Millett (b. 1934)
