University of Central Florida College of Nursing

The University of Central Florida College of Nursing is an academic college of the University of Central Florida located in Orlando, Florida, USA. The dean of the college is Jean D’Meza Leuner, Ph.D.

On July 1, 2007, the School of Nursing became the university’s 12th college. Originally a School of Nursing as part of the College of Health and Public Affairs since 1978, it was changed to college status to recognize its growth and stature. The college will continue to operate out of the College of Health and Public Affairs building on the main campus until it raises enough money to construct a new building on the UCF Health Sciences Campus at Lake Nona. A new building for the College of Nursing is not planned for the Health Sciences Campus until 2011. The college's eventual move to the Health Sciences Campus at Lake Nona will enable the college to work more closely with the College of Medicine.

Cold an old predicament of the breath:
    Adroit, the shapely prefaces complete,
    Accept the university of death.
    Gwendolyn Brooks (b. 1917)

The information links are like nerves that pervade and help to animate the human organism. The sensors and monitors are analogous to the human senses that put us in touch with the world. Data bases correspond to memory; the information processors perform the function of human reasoning and comprehension. Once the postmodern infrastructure is reasonably integrated, it will greatly exceed human intelligence in reach, acuity, capacity, and precision.
Albert Borgman, U.S. educator, author. Crossing the Postmodern Divide, ch. 4, University of Chicago Press (1992)

    My solitaria
Are the meditations of a central mind.
I hear the motions of the spirit and the sound
Of what is secret becomes, for me, a voice
That is my own voice speaking in my ear.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)

    In Florida consider the flamingo,
Its color passion but its neck a question.
    Robert Penn Warren (1905–1989)

[B]y going to the College [William and Mary] I shall get a more universal Acquaintance, which may hereafter be serviceable to me; and I suppose I can pursue my Studies in the Greek and Latin as well there as here, and likewise learn something of the Mathematics.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)

If America does not wish to end her days in the same nursing home as Britannia she had best end this geo-babble about new world orders. Our war, the Cold War, is over. It is time for America to come home.
    Patrick Buchanan (b. 1938)
