Universal Business Adapter

The Universal Business Adapter (UBA) was a popular TV commercial in 2002 for IBM's WebSphere Integration Software. The UBA was touted to "connect anything to everything" during what appears to be a sales call to several business people. "Affordable", "fast" and "easy" were also some of the benefits of the UBA. When asked if it would work in Europe, the salesman indicates that it needs an adapter.

Unfortunately, the ad reminds the viewer that "there is no universal business adapter", which is why one would supposedly need their product.

The term UBA or Universal Business Adapter is sometimes used to describe a magical business solution or IT product that doesn't actually exist.

Famous quotes containing the words universal and/or business:

If only nature is real and if, in nature, only desire and destruction are legitimate, then, in that all humanity does not suffice to assuage the thirst for blood, the path of destruction must lead to universal annihilation.
    Albert Camus (1913–1960)

In my cheapest moments I am apt to think that it is n’t my business to be “seeking the spirit,” but as much its business to be seeking me.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
