United States Fourth Fleet - Fourth Fleet Ships

Fourth Fleet Ships

No ships are permanently assigned to the Fourth Fleet. Ships homeported in the United States Fleet Forces Command and United States Third Fleet routinely deploy to the Fourth Fleet area of responsibility (AOR), during which time they are under the operational control of the Fourth Fleet Commander. This is consistent with ships deploying to the other numbered fleets (Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Fleets), although all of those fleets have at least one permanently assigned ship.

Famous quotes containing the words fourth, fleet and/or ships:

    The British are a self-distrustful, diffident people, agreeing with alacrity that they are neither successful nor clever, and only modestly claiming that they have a keener sense of humour, more robust common sense, and greater staying power as a nation than all the rest of the world put together.
    —Quoted in Fourth Leaders from the Times (1950)

    Believe me, if all those endearing young charms,
    Which I gaze on so fondly today,
    Were to change by tomorrow, and fleet in my arms,
    Like fairy-gifts fading away.
    Thomas Moore (1779–1852)

    Shuttles in the rocking loom of history,
    the dark ships move, the dark ships move,
    their bright ironical names
    like jests of kindness on a murderer’s mouth;
    Robert Earl Hayden (1913–1980)
