Present Day Usage

The crypt serves as the main thoroughfare of the ground floor of the Capitol and is a stop for all Capitol Tours provided through the Capitol Visitor Center.

The crypt also contains the Magna Carta Case, a gold case which held one of the versions of the Magna Carta when it was on loan to the United States for the Bicentennial celebration.

Famous quotes containing the words present day, present, day and/or usage:

The technological landscape of the present day has enfranchised its own electorates—the inhabitants of marketing zones in the consumer goods society, television audiences and news magazine readerships... vote with money at the cash counter rather than with the ballot paper at the polling booth.
    —J.G. (James Graham)

Heav’n from all creatures, hides the book of Fate,
All but the page prescrib’d, their present state:
    Alexander Pope (1688–1744)

It was a day of cold
    Raw silence, wind-blown
    Surplice and soutane:
    Rained-on, flower-laden
    Coffin after coffin
Seemed to float from the door
    Seamus Heaney (b. 1939)

    Pythagoras, Locke, Socrates—but pages
Might be filled up, as vainly as before,
With the sad usage of all sorts of sages,
Who in his life-time, each was deemed a bore!
The loftiest minds outrun their tardy ages.
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)
