United Airways

United Airways Ltd. (DSE : UNITEDAIR CSE : UNITEDAIR), operating as United Airways (Bengali: ইউনাইটেড এয়ারওয়েজ), is a Bangladeshi private airline headquartered in Uttara, Dhaka. Its primary hub is Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka and secondary hub is Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong. It was founded in 2005 and began flights on 10 July 2007 with its first aircraft, a Dash 8-100, purchased from Island Air.

By 2012 it became the largest private airline in the country employing around 1,000 people. In its first 5 years of operation, it operated 29,000 flights, and transported around 925,000 passengers.

Taking advantage of Biman's poor service and GMG's hiatus, it is currently the biggest private airline in Bangladesh, with the strongest domestic network in the country. United Airways operates all 14 destinations from its hub Shahjalal International Airport, and three destinations (Dhaka, Muscat and Kolkata) from its secondary hub Shah Amanat International Airport.

Famous quotes containing the word united:

The United Nations cannot do anything, and never could; it is not an animate entity or agent. It is a place, a stage, a forum and a shrine ... a place to which powerful people can repair when they are fearful about the course on which their own rhetoric seems to be propelling them.
    Conor Cruise O’Brien (b. 1917)
