Ultra High-Definition is a next-generation television standard that was defined by ITU on 2012-May-16 and by the Consumer Electronics Association on 2012-Oct-18. The minimum performance attributes include a display resolution of at least eight million active pixels, with at least 3,840 horizontal pixels and at least 2,160 vertical pixels. Displays must have an aspect ratio with a width-to-height ratio of at least 16 × 9. To use the Ultra HD label, displays require at least one digital input capable of carrying and presenting native video at a minimum resolution of 3,840 × 2,160 pixels; this must be done without relying solely on (internally) up-converting from a lower resolution.
