Ultimate Spider-Man - Powers and Abilities

Powers and Abilities

Spider-Man possesses superhuman strength, agility, reflexes and equilibrium, the ability to cling to surfaces, and a sixth sense that warns him of impending danger. However, his spider-sense is not as accurate as 616 Spider-Man, as he cannot pinpoint the locations of attacks whereas the 616 version is able to. Peter is an accomplished scientist for his age, with a stated IQ of 145. Spider-Man's wrist-mounted web-shooters discharge thin strands of web-fluid at high pressure. On contact with air, the long-chain polymer knits and forms an extremely tough, flexible fiber with extraordinary adhesive qualities. He has taught himself to shoot these web strands into many useful forms, commonly nets, gags, and limb-binding loops.

Spider-Man is also immune to vampirism, a fact Morbius informs him of in issue 96. After Spider-Man is bitten by a vampire, Morbius sniffs him saying "You've done something to your blood... Your blood cannot feed a night crawler the way normal humans' blood can."

Famous quotes containing the words powers and/or abilities:

Exploitation and oppression is not a matter of race. It is the system, the apparatus of world-wide brigandage called imperialism, which made the Powers behave the way they did. I have no illusions on this score, nor do I believe that any Asian nation or African nation, in the same state of dominance, and with the same system of colonial profit-amassing and plunder, would have behaved otherwise.
    Han Suyin (b. 1917)

A child is born with the potential ability to learn Chinese or Swahili, play a kazoo, climb a tree, make a strudel or a birdhouse, take pleasure in finding the coordinates of a star. Genetic inheritance determines a child’s abilities and weaknesses. But those who raise a child call forth from that matrix the traits and talents they consider important.
