UCC Philosophical Society - Weekly House Meetings

Weekly House Meetings

House meetings of the society are held every Monday evening during UCC's term time at 7.30pm, usually in the Kane Science Building- though larger meetings are sometimes moved elsewhere. The meetings usually begin with the reading of minutes of the previous meeting, followed by private members time. This is then followed by the main Debate.

Famous quotes containing the words weekly, house and/or meetings:

True love never goes without respect; and its counterfeit is often obliged to feign it, till an occasion serves to throw it out of the windows.
Anonymous, U.S. women’s magazine contributor. Weekly Visitor or Ladies Miscellany, p. 211 (April 1803)

Thou hast an house on high erect,
    Framed by that mighty Architect,
    With glory richly furnished,
Stands permanent though this be fled.
    Anne Bradstreet (c. 1612–1672)

I have been reporting club meetings for four years and I am tired of hearing reviews of the books I was brought up on. I am tired of amateur performances at occasions announced to be for purposes either of enjoyment or improvement. I am tired of suffering under the pretense of acquiring culture. I am tired of hearing the word “culture” used so wantonly. I am tired of essays that let no guilty author escape quotation.
Josephine Woodward, U.S. author. As quoted in Everyone Was Brave, ch. 3, by William L. O’Neill (1969)
