Trentham Gardens

Trentham Gardens are formal Italianate gardens, part of an English landscape park on the Trentham Estate in Trentham, Staffordshire. The site is located on the southern fringe of the city of Stoke-on-Trent, England. The site was also the location of the former Trentham Hall. At 2012 a local reference made to "Trentham Gardens" may refer either to the Gardens, the commercial attractions there, to Trentham Hall and its remaining buildings, or to the larger Trentham Estate - since these are undifferentiated in the minds of most local people.

Famous quotes containing the word gardens:

The ocean is a wilderness reaching round the globe, wilder than a Bengal jungle, and fuller of monsters, washing the very wharves of our cities and the gardens of our sea-side residences. Serpents, bears, hyenas, tigers rapidly vanish as civilization advances, but the most populous and civilized city cannot scare a shark far from its wharves.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
