Fronting the Atlantic Ocean, Torre Vedres borders to the municipality of Lourinhã to the north, Alenquer to the east, Sobral de Monte Agraço Municipality to the southeast and Mafra to the south. The municipality has a very dispersed population, with 21 urban agglomerations, of which most have less than 200 inhabitants. The resident population in the city of Torres Vedras (approximately 20,000 inhabitants in two largest urban parishes) represents about 25% of the population of the municipality. Altogether the municipality has a population of 75,494, with a population density of 185 per km², while population growth between 1991 to 2001 was about 7.5%.
