Titanohierax
Titanohierax is a fossil genus of giant hawk from Cuba, Hispaniola and the Bahamas. It has one known species, Titanohierax gloveralleni. The extinct crab-hawk Buteogallus borrasi was formerly placed in this genus and today, despite the genus's huge size, it is generally considered an ally of the modern Buteogallus genus. Titanohierax was a giant hawk with a measured fore-claw length of 57 mm (2.2 in) and an estimated weight of around 7.3 kg (16 lb), making roughly equal in size to the females of the largest living eagles and only slightly smaller than the largest known raptor, Haast's Eagle. This raptor lived in the Antilles, where it was likely amongst the top predators.
