Reviews
Reviews for The Sure Thing were mostly positive with a rating of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. Film critic Roger Ebert praised the film and called it a "small miracle" for its handling of teenage material in an era when movies like Porky's were the norm. In a review for The New York Times, Janet Maslin wrote that The Sure Thing was "glowing proof of two things: Traditional romantic comedy can be adapted to suit the teen-age trade, and Mr. Reiner's contribution to This Is Spinal Tap was more than a matter of humor". "This film gets my unapologetic nomination for greatest film ever made," said Michael Dare of LA Weekly.

Famous quotes containing the word reviews:
“I have been reporting club meetings for four years and I am tired of hearing reviews of the books I was brought up on. I am tired of amateur performances at occasions announced to be for purposes either of enjoyment or improvement. I am tired of suffering under the pretense of acquiring culture. I am tired of hearing the word culture used so wantonly. I am tired of essays that let no guilty author escape quotation.”
—Josephine Woodward, U.S. author. As quoted in Everyone Was Brave, ch. 3, by William L. ONeill (1969)
“Why do I do this every Sunday? Even the book reviews seem to be the same as last weeks. Different bookssame reviews.”
—John Osborne (19291994)
“When the reviews are bad I tell my staff that they can join me as I cry all the way to the bank.”
—Wladziu Valentino Liberace (19191987)
