The Maine Mall

The Maine Mall, built in 1971, is an enclosed shopping mall located in South Portland, Maine, a suburb of Portland. At 1,200,000 square feet (110,000 m2), it is the largest shopping mall in the state of Maine, and the second-largest in northern New England (behind only the Mall at Rockingham Park in New Hampshire). Anchored by Best Buy, JCPenney, Macy's, and Sears, the mall features over 140 tenants, a food court and several ancillary restaurant/retail pad sites.

Famous quotes containing the words maine and/or mall:

We know of no scripture which records the pure benignity of the gods on a New England winter night. Their praises have never been sung, only their wrath deprecated. The best scripture, after all, records but a meagre faith. Its saints live reserved and austere. Let a brave, devout man spend the year in the woods of Maine or Labrador, and see if the Hebrew Scriptures speak adequately to his condition and experience.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

A father ... knows exactly what those boys at the mall have in their depraved little minds because he once owned such a depraved little mind himself. In fact, if he thinks enough about the plans that he used to have for young girls, the father not only will support his wife in keeping their daughter home but he might even run over to the mall and have a few of those boys arrested.
    Bill Cosby (20th century)
