The first generation of Bernstein lawyers included Mandell Bernstein and Estelle Koblin-Nelson, both practicing law in Detroit. The matriarch of the Bernstein family of lawyers, Estelle Koblin-Nelson, was one of the first female attorneys in Michigan in 1936 when she was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan.
Sam Bernstein represents the second generation of the Bernstein family of lawyers. After graduating from Wayne State University Law School in 1968, Sam continued the tradition established by his father, Mandell, and mother-in-law, Estelle.
The third generation of Bernstein lawyers includes Mark Bernstein, Richard H. Bernstein and Beth Bernstein. All three siblings currently practice law together at The Law Offices of Samuel I. Bernstein.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“He wrote in prison, not a History of the World, like Raleigh, but an American book which I think will live longer than that. I do not know of such words, uttered under such circumstances, and so copiously withal, in Roman or English or any history.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“To history therefore I must refer for answer, in which it would be an unhappy passage indeed, which should shew by what fatal indulgence of subordinate views and passions, a contest for an atom had defeated well founded prospects of giving liberty to half the globe.”
—Thomas Jefferson (17431826)
“There is no history of how bad became better.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
