Characters
The girls who make up The Fabulous Five include Jana Morgan, Beth Barry, Christie Winchell, Katie Shannon, and Melanie Edwards.
Boys are supporting characters throughout the series. Six boys are mentioned in every book, mostly in relation to The Fabulous Five. They are: Randy Kirwan, Scott Daly, Shane Arrington, Tony Calcaterra, Jon Smith, and Keith Masterson. All of these boys are either the girl's boyfriend or their former boyfriend.
On their first day at Wakeman Junior High, the girls become enemies with four girls who call themselves The Fantastic Foursome. It consists of members Laura McCall, Melissa McConnell, Karen "Funny" Hawthorne, and Tammy Lucero. Funny is the only one civil to The Fabulous Five, and even becomes friends with both Jana and Melanie. The Fantastic Foursome's schemes usually involve sabotaging at least one or all of The Fabulous Five, in whatever endeavor the book may be about. "One-upmanship" is the name of the game. However, The Fabulous Five almost always win by the end of the book.
