Tempo Networks - History

History

TEMPO was launched by MTV Networks in 2005. Caribbean native Frederic Morton, Jr., Deputy General Council at Viacom bought out the channel in 2007, moving corporate headquarters to Newark, NJ in 2008.

It was the first network created to bring together the diverse cultures of the Caribbean. It also serves the large Caribbean community living outside of the region in the New York city metro area (NY/NJ/CT), Atlanta, Boston, Washington D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, Miami, Los Angeles, and Houston.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

    You that would judge me do not judge alone
    This book or that, come to this hallowed place
    Where my friends’ portraits hang and look thereon;
    Ireland’s history in their lineaments trace;
    Think where man’s glory most begins and ends
    And say my glory was I had such friends.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

    The history of work has been, in part, the history of the worker’s body. Production depended on what the body could accomplish with strength and skill. Techniques that improve output have been driven by a general desire to decrease the pain of labor as well as by employers’ intentions to escape dependency upon that knowledge which only the sentient laboring body could provide.
    Shoshana Zuboff (b. 1951)

    False history gets made all day, any day,
    the truth of the new is never on the news
    False history gets written every day

    the lesbian archaeologist watches herself
    sifting her own life out from the shards she’s piecing,
    asking the clay all questions but her own.
    Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)
