Teenage Whore - Origin and Recording

Origin and Recording

"Teenage Whore" was written by bassist Jill Emery, lead guitarist Eric Erlandson, drummer Caroline Rue and vocalist/rhythm guitarist Courtney Love in 1991 and was one of the first songs written by Hole's second line up, featuring Emery, after the departure of original bassist Lisa Roberts and additional guitarists Mike Geisbrecht and Errol Stewart.

The first studio recording of "Teenage Whore" was recorded at the band's sessions for Pretty on the Inside in March 1991 at Music Box Studios in Los Angeles. Produced by Sonic Youth musician Kim Gordon and Gumball frontman Don Fleming, the song was recorded over a period of four days.

Famous quotes containing the words origin and/or recording:

We have got rid of the fetish of the divine right of kings, and that slavery is of divine origin and authority. But the divine right of property has taken its place. The tendency plainly is towards ... “a government of the rich, by the rich, and for the rich.”
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

He shall not die, by G—, cried my uncle Toby.
MThe ACCUSING SPIRIT which flew up to heaven’s chancery with the oath, blush’d as he gave it in;—and the RECORDING ANGEL as he wrote it down, dropp’d a tear upon the word, and blotted it out for ever.
    Laurence Sterne (1713–1768)
