Early & Private Life

Ted Carroll was born in Lisdowney, County Kilkenny in 1939. He was educated locally and later attended St. Kieran's College in Kilkenny, a famed hurling nursery. It was here that his hurling skills were nurtured and developed, and he won an All-Ireland Colleges’ title with the school in 1957. Carroll later studied at University College Dublin and began working with Teagasc in the mid-1960s.

Famous quotes containing the words early, private and/or life:

    On the Coast of Coromandel
    Where the early pumpkins blow,
In the middle of the woods
    Lived the Yonghy-Bonghy-Bo.
Two old chairs, and half a candle,—
One old jug without a handle,—
These were all his worldly goods:
In the middle of the woods,
    Edward Lear (1812–1888)

As in private life one differentiates between what a man thinks and says of himself and what he really is and does, so in historical struggles one must still more distinguish the language and the imaginary aspirations of parties from their real organism and their real interests, their conception of themselves from their reality.
    Karl Marx (1818–1883)

‘Tis of the essence of life here,
Though we choose greatly, still to lack
The lasting memory at all clear,
That life has for us on the wrack
    Nothing but what we somehow chose;
Thus are we wholly stripped of pride
In the pain that has but one close,
    Bearing it crushed and mystified.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)
