The Tata Estate is a station wagon car produced by the Tata Motors. It was the company's first attempt at building a car.The car was considered fairly advanced during its time and had many features which were not common among cars in India at the time including power windows, power steering and a tachometer. The car performed better than expected, but fell out of production due to its underpowered engine.
The car had the TATA 207 Engine. This station wagon was an attempted Mercedes Benz T- series estate car, which were produced by Daimler Benz. The Tata Estate played a main role in replacing the Ambassador car, which was considered outdated, and even crude in many ways. This station wagon was a prestige symbol for some rich people in India. In fact, it proved to be a worthy one. True to its original, this long wagon was very handsome and attractive. The main difference between the Benz T-series, barring the engine and gear box and build quality, was the radiator grille and optional rear view mirror.
