Sydney Airports Corporation Limited (SACL) is the private operator of Sydney Airport in Sydney, Australia.
Southern Cross Airports Corporation Holdings Limited (SCACH) is the ultimate parent company of SACL, which is controlled by a number of entities including Sydney Airport Holdings.
In 2002, the Australian Federal (Commonwealth) Government entered into an arrangement for SACL to lease and operate the airport for a period of ninety-nine (99) years. Whilst the airport is privately controlled under this agreement, the Australian Government still retains responsibility for other airport-related services through agencies such as Airservices Australia (air traffic control, aviation communications/navigation-aids, airport fire-fighting and rescue), the Australian Customs Service, the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service, the Australian Federal Police and the Department of Infrastructure and Transport.
The Chief Executive Officer of SACL is Mr. Russell Balding, formerly the Managing Director of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
Famous quotes containing the words sydney, airport and/or corporation:
“Turn up the lights; I dont want to go home in the dark.”
—O. Henry [William Sydney Porter] (18621910)
“Airplanes are invariably scheduled to depart at such times as 7:54, 9:21 or 11:37. This extreme specificity has the effect on the novice of instilling in him the twin beliefs that he will be arriving at 10:08, 1:43 or 4:22, and that he should get to the airport on time. These beliefs are not only erroneous but actually unhealthy.”
—Fran Lebowitz (b. 1950)
“It is truly enough said that a corporation has no conscience; but a corporation of conscientious men is a corporation with a conscience.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
