Swinging Bridge

Swinging Bridge is a popular destination in Yosemite Valley for swimming while having a great frontal view of Yosemite Falls. The land in the area resembles that of a beach. The official policy does not allow visitors to jump off the bridge. However, you will very often find daring participants partaking in this practice. The area on both sides of the bridge has mostly shallow water with a few areas of 6 feet (1.8 m) to 12 feet (3.7 m) in depth.

The area northeast of the bridge is available for weddings of 20 people or less. No ceremonies are allowed on the bridge.

Open containers of alcoholic beverages are not allowed at Swinging bridge.

Famous quotes containing the words swinging and/or bridge:

    Kicking and rolling about
the Fair Grounds, swinging their butts, those
shanks must be sound to bear up under such
rollicking measures, prance as they dance
in Breughel’s great picture, The Kermess.
    William Carlos Williams (1883–1963)

Crime seems to change character when it crosses a bridge or a tunnel. In the city, crime is taken as emblematic of class and race. In the suburbs, though, it’s intimate and psychological—resistant to generalization, a mystery of the individual soul.
    Barbara Ehrenreich (b. 1941)
