Deep Branch
The deep branch lies under the Gluteus medius and almost immediately subdivides into two.
Of these, the superior division, continuing the original course of the vessel, passes along the upper border of the Gluteus minimus to the anterior superior spine of the ilium, anastomosing with the deep iliac circumflex artery and the ascending branch of the lateral femoral circumflex artery.
The inferior division crosses the Gluteus minimus obliquely to the greater trochanter, distributing branches to the Glutei and anastomoses with the lateral femoral circumflex artery.
Some branches pierce the Gluteus minimus and supply the hip-joint.

Famous quotes containing the words deep and/or branch:
“And deep into her crystal body poured
The hot and sorrowful sweetness of the dust:
Whereof she wanders mad, being all unfit
For mortal love, that might not die of it.”
—Edna St. Vincent Millay (18921950)
“She saw a dust bearing bee sink into the sanctum of a bloom; the thousand sister calxes arch to meet the love embrace and the ecstatic shiver of the tree from root to tiniest branch creaming in every blossom and frothing with delight. So this was a marriage!”
—Zora Neale Hurston (18911960)
