Super League Dream Team

The Super League Dream Team is an ideal team, consisting of the players deemed to have been the best in their position in the Super League rugby league tournament by a panel of journalists and broadcasters. The team is selected at the end of each respective season.

The inaugural Dream Team was nominated in 1996 and coincided with the start of Super League and the move to a summer rugby season.

The Dream Team award is generally devoid of bias towards the big teams, with performers from the lesser teams getting slots in the Dream Team over the years. It also shows no bias towards the large number of antipodean imports.

Famous quotes containing the words league, dream and/or team:

I am not impressed by the Ivy League establishments. Of course they graduate the best—it’s all they’ll take, leaving to others the problem of educating the country. They will give you an education the way the banks will give you money—provided you can prove to their satisfaction that you don’t need it.
    Peter De Vries (b. 1910)

Dream is not a revelation. If a dream affords the dreamer some light on himself, it is not the person with closed eyes who makes the discovery but the person with open eyes lucid enough to fit thoughts together. Dream—a scintillating mirage surrounded by shadows—is essentially poetry.
    Michel Leiris (1901–1990)

I doubt if men ever made a trade of heroism. In the days of Achilles, even, they delighted in big barns, and perchance in pressed hay, and he who possessed the most valuable team was the best fellow.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
