Super16

16 mm film is a popular, economical gauge of film. 16 mm is the width of the film. Other common film gauges include 8 mm and 35 mm. It is generally used for non-theatrical (for instance, industrial or educational) film making or for low budget motion pictures.

Besides certain applications like satellite observation, 16 mm cameras started to be used for scientific registers by ethnographers from the 1950s on. 1960 was when sync sound techniques were developed for 16 mm cameras, allowing film to be impressed and sound registered by separate devices.
