Stewart Air National Guard Base

Stewart Air National Guard Base is the home of the 105th Airlift Wing (105 AW), an Air Mobility Command (AMC)-gained unit of the New York Air National Guard and "host" wing for the installation. The former Stewart Air Force Base is also known as Newburgh-Stewart IAP and Stewart International Airport, while the military portion of this now-joint civil-military airport is known as Stewart Air National Guard Base (Stewart ANGB). The base is named in honor of 19th century Scottish-born sea captain, Lachlan Stewart, and his son, who donated the land it now occupies.

Famous quotes containing the words stewart, air, national, guard and/or base:

There are few men more superstitious than soldiers. There are, after all, the men who live closest to death.
    —Mary Stewart (b. 1916)

A straw vote only shows which way the hot air blows.
    O. Henry [William Sydney Porter] (1862–1910)

Maybe it’s understandable what a history of failures America’s foreign policy has been. We are, after all, a country full of people who came to America to get away from foreigners. Any prolonged examination of the U.S. government reveals foreign policy to be America’s miniature schnauzer—a noisy but small and useless part of the national household.
    —P.J. (Patrick Jake)

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
    Bible: New Testament, Philippians 4:7.

What if it tempt you toward the flood, my lord,
Or to the dreadful summit of the cliff
That beetles o’er his base into the sea,
And there assume some other horrible form
Which might deprive your sovereignty of reason,
    And draw you into madness?
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
